Job Overview Assesses and meets specific needs of breastfeeding women, both inpatient and outpatient and works with maternity care team and clinical staff as a resource.

Shifts will be a mix of 8hr shifts (7am-3:30pm) and 12 hr shifts (7a-7:30pm). Saturday and Sundays will be 8hr lactation shifts, and 12hr shifts will be the postpartum shifts. Every third weekend rotation. Variable scheduling.

Works partially in postpartum as an RN and partially in Lactation as IBCLC.

Responsibilities

Provides one on one consultation, develops, and implements education for patients /families in the HealthEast Outpatient Lactation Clinic.

Provides follow up for patients who have discussed lactation concerns with staff nurses and need additional consultation with a lactation consultant.

Acts as a visible lactation resource to promote lactation services, breastfeeding education, and breast pump sales.

Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.

Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

Required Qualifications

2 to 3 years experience working with breastfeeding mothers

IBCLC Certification

Associate's Degree

BLS

NRP certification within orientation period

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

2 to 3 years knowledge of planning and implement of breastfeeding education for patients and staff.
