Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs. Interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and engineering specifications for tooling. Perform precision measurements and inspections using various metrology equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing tooling to support production operations. Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool longevity and performance. Collaborate with engineering and production teams on tool design improvements and problem-solving. Recommended Qualifications
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs). Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and GD&T specifications. Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tool steels. Proven experience in fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Excellent metrology skills, including the use of precision measuring instruments and CMMs. Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for design and programming Experience with various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) for tool repair and fabrication Knowledge of heat treatment processes for different tool steels Familiarity with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation for precise inspection Job Titles That Should Apply
