Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Perform complex machining operations using mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine specifications.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks on tools and machinery.
Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools and precision measuring instruments.
Ensure all work adheres to strict quality standards and safety protocols.
Recommended Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
3‑5 years of hands‑on experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
Expertise in precision measurement using various metrology instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
Demonstrated problem‑solving skills for tool repair, modification, and troubleshooting.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
Experience operating or programming CNC machinery (e.g., CNC mills, lathes, EDMs)
Basic welding and fabrication skills (e.g., TIG, MIG)
Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels
Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
