Key Responsibilities

Fabricate, machine, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to blueprints and specifications.

Operate and set up a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.

Perform complex setups and adjustments to achieve tight tolerances and critical dimensions.

Repair, modify, and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and extend lifespan.

Inspect finished tools and components using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and quality.

Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

Completed Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or 5+ years of equivalent experience in precision manufacturing.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models.

Expertise in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs) for fabrication and repair.

Skilled in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMMs) to ensure tight tolerances.

Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and their machining characteristics.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)

Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)

Demonstrated experience in CNC programming (G-code/M-code)

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies
