Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Operate and program various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
Interpret complex engineering blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
Perform meticulous measurements and inspections using precision instruments to ensure quality and accuracy.
Troubleshoot tooling malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool performance and manufacturing processes.
Recommended Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in operating and setting up conventional machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) and CNC equipment.
Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and use precision measuring instruments.
Strong understanding of metal properties, tooling principles, and manufacturing processes.
Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain precision tooling and dies.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
Experience operating and programming EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Certification or proven experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
