Job Summary As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both associates and customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You will also be a team leader to the associates, ensuring the work environment is positive and productive. Through a continuous learning environment you will stay current on products we sell and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful and professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service: proactively engage and make a connection with customers, ask questions, listen to their needs, direct them to merchandise, inform about events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.

Provide premier customer service, cooperate, build positive inclusive and respectful relationships, take accountability for actions and outcomes.

Organization: maintain store appearance.

Sales: cross‑sell products, know store layout, suggest latest trends and promotions, upsell products, learn product features, stay updated on trends, use company tools and technology to provide confident product knowledge.

Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards and handle cash, including counting money and ensuring accuracy.

Complete various forms, reports and reconciliation paperwork.

Inventory: keep merchandise, complete all inventory processes, check in and ticket merchandise, participate in periodic inventories, secure cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.

Provide direction on assignments, prioritize projects, manage merchandise and inventory.

Dependability: adhere to assigned work schedule, complete work assignments accurately and completely.

Supervisory Requirements: provide effective leadership, direct train and motivate associates, set a positive example, coach and give feedback, assign work, train sales associates, input on associate performance to Department Manager, and may open or close locations.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Product Knowledge: moderate level of knowledge of products and merchandise.

Professional: provide training documentation on product features.

Experience: 1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Communication Skills: strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents, communicate effectively with customers, peers, management and on the telephone with proper etiquette.

Mathematical Skills: basic math functions, calculator use and ability to make change in American monetary units.

Reasoning Ability: ability to multi‑task while being attentive to customers and remain flexible to business needs.

Teamwork: work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision.

Conflict Resolution: ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.

Physical Demands This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close, color, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.

Work Hours Available to work a variety of hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

General Experience 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.

Specialized Experience 1 year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing duties that constitute the principal work of the position to be filled.

Substitution of Education for Experience College or university study above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year for 6 months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience. Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess or have potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision.
