Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. This opportunity is based in Reno, NV, and we have been in business for over 9 years.

What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections in your assigned county; split the county with another inspector if necessary.
Most inspections take 5–6 minutes.
Finalize the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile application.
Drive extended periods in the assigned territory, making numerous stops during the day.
Qualifications
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided above the flat fee per inspection.
