Responsibilities
Responsible for the assessment and management of breastfeeding mothers and babies, particularly those with problems or concerns.
Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of nursing processes and procedures concerning lactation patient and her infant.
Support training and support of new associates on breastfeeding techniques and standards of care; serve as subject matter expert to the units in their facility.
Demonstrate developing knowledge and skills relevant to lactation and adult learning principles.
Plan, implement and present/facilitate education for clients and/or hospital staff.
Comply with competent assessment, treatment, and care of all ages, including neonates.
Education Requirements
Associate Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs.
Experience Requirements
Three years nursing experience required.
Prior lactation training and/or certification preferred.
Licenses/Certification Requirements
RN License required; current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required.
Physical Requirements Medium Work – exert up to 50 lbs force occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
Where You'll Work Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley has recently expanded its capacity to 171 beds. The hospital is a Level III Trauma center, STEMI Cardiac receiving center, and certified stroke treatment center.
Pay Range $32.01 – $48.43 /hour
