About the Role As a Mechanical Engineer at Applied Materials, you will leverage your foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design custom tooling and processes, and enable the handling, assembly and disassembly of parts throughout the product life cycle. Your work will involve designing, developing and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics and specifications, overseeing manufacturing and installation processes, and coordinating procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Requires expertise in cobot programming and tooling design.
Applies best practices to create automated service solutions, develops new products or services, and solves complex problems with fresh approaches.
Works independently with little supervision and serves as a subject matter expert collaborating with Business Units within SPG to influence chamber designs.
Create new procedures and best‑practice knowledge bases for automated service solutions.
Support Apps lab demos of chamber applications and resolve or escalate issues to Engineering.
Collaborate with OEMs to address technical problems and create new solutions.
Gather process and qualification data to assess the effectiveness of automated services and support Design for Automated Service (DfAS) principles in new chamber designs.
Create initial training materials for new products and collaborate with Global Technical Training to design classes.
Train Customer Engineers and Technical Product Support for customers receiving ELS units before shipment; onsite support during customer evaluations may be necessary.
