Phoenix Children's Department: PCMG-MAIN | Orthopaedics Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Employee Type: PRN Position Summary
This position completes the tasks assigned and the duties that are pertinent to patient care outside the clinic. The contract athletic trainer provides support to local high schools and athletic teams, attends games and competitions, and evaluates injuries to determine their management and possible referral to physicians. Position Duties
Prepares athletes for practice or competition, including taping, bracing, and bandaging. Attends games, competitions, and tournaments. Evaluates injuries to determine their management and possible referral to outside providers. Instructs patients with home exercise programs and monitors patient`s progress as applicable within the constraints of the environment (ex: across a tournament weekend). Provides patient and family education materials as needed. The employee documents actions taken, supplies used, techniques utilized, related measurements, etc. on an injury report which is submitted according to Phoenix Children's policy. Collaborates with the physician regarding patient`s plan of care. Markets the Phoenix Children's sports medicine program under the direction of the physicians. Experience : One year or more athletic training experience. Special Skills : No special skill requirements have been added to this JDR. Additional Requirements : Current Arizona Athletic Trainer License; Current Athletic Trainer Certification from the NATA Board of Certification; Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association. Certification / License / Registry Requirements : AZ Cert Athletic Trainer - Required; Certified Athletic Trainer - Required; Basic Life Support - Required Physical Requirements & Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential : Listed in the original description (various physical tasks and exposure risks).
