Worker Compensation Claims Trainee – New England at Gallagher Bassett. This is a 9‑month paid, fully remote, entry‑level immersive program designed for recent graduates to gain real‑world exposure, coaching, mentorship, and a clear long‑term career path in the claims industry.

What You’ll Do During the 9‑month program, you will be paired with a team of peers and Training Specialists to create a supportive learning environment. You will alternate between self‑study modules, virtual classroom learning, guided training modules, and hands‑on application. You will progressively increase your hands‑on experience in claims management and client service under mentorship, with opportunities to develop knowledge, pursue licensing, and grow in a specialized field serving large employers and insurers.
What to Expect / Responsibilities
Participate in structured learning: instructor‑led sessions, online modules, shadowing, and mentorship focused on foundational insurance knowledge, claims operations, and state workers’ compensation regulations.
Shadow claims professionals and learn best practices in managing indemnity workers’ compensation claims.
Work in a simulated environment to apply concepts before handling actual cases.
Achieve program milestones and advance technical knowledge and professional skills for a claims career.
Collaborate with peers and mentors; build professional relationships within the organization.
Begin handling new workers’ compensation claims starting in Week 3, with increasing responsibility as skills grow.
Take ownership of an evolving portfolio of indemnity claims under supervision; apply training to real‑world scenarios, including benefit calculations and return‑to‑work considerations.
Develop skills in analyzing medical documentation, regulatory guidelines, and state‑specific requirements to determine claim strategy and financial exposure.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to support claims handling with empathy and professionalism.
Learn to interpret client service instructions and carrier guidelines to ensure compliance with expectations.
Build reserving skills by analyzing claim details and medical data to support financial stewardship.
About You Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 4‑year degree preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will receive preferential treatment; others with proven experience will be considered.
