Key Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.

Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine tool specifications.

Operate and set up a variety of manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.

Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators to ensure conformity.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing production tooling to optimize performance and extend lifespan.

Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool construction based on application requirements.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tool design, functionality, and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or 5+ years of equivalent experience.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.

Expertise in operating and setting up a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).

Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.

Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and plastics, including their properties and machining characteristics.

Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex tooling, jigs, fixtures, and dies.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM operation).

Proficiency in additive manufacturing (3D printing) for prototyping or tooling applications.

Familiarity with automation or robotics integration in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
