Job Description

The Retail Banker I is a customer liaison integral to delivering TD’s Brand promise by using financial expertise and consultative advice to assist Customers with their banking solutions. This role supports business objectives by identifying TD solutions to help Customers achieve their financial goals and optimize their relationship with TD.

Depth & Scope Proficient in products, services and routine transactions to educate Customers on TD offerings or refer them to the right team, while delivering a positive Customer experience.

Broad knowledge of the full product suite and processes; low to moderate complexity/risk.

Establishes and nurtures Customer relationships through product knowledge and attentive listening to identify needs and offer solutions or referrals.

Makes product recommendations based on Customer needs, highlighting features and benefits to save time and money and exceed expectations.

Uses Customer relationship management tools to identify Customer solutions and lead-focused outbound sales activities.

Independently resolves Customer issues; escalate when necessary.

Maintains active engagement with Customers and explains complex information clearly.

Participates in Customer outreach, servicing and advice activities to deliver a customer-centric experience.

Engages in conversations about loan products and facilitates application intake.

Must maintain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).

Education & Experience HS Diploma or GED

1+ years’ experience working with Customers and/or sales in any capacity or equivalent demonstrated through volunteering, education, military experience, etc. Teller experience preferred.

Must be able to complete teller training upon hire to take customer transactions.

Demonstrated ability to engage customers in conversations while educating them on products and services.

Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills; concise, clear and consistent.

Ability to schedule and prioritize work; work independently and meet deadlines.

Sound judgment and effective problem solving.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Notary License (Preferred).

Accountabilities Delivers a Legendary customer experience by helping customers, building relationships and providing service and advice.

Supports the Bank's Customer Service Strategy by delivering end-to-end advice and proactive insights.

Acts as a Customer advocate, offering tips to save time and money and improve financial confidence.

Maintains a welcoming store environment and guides customers to meet their needs through self-service options and personal interaction.

May assist with teller transactions while adhering to policies and procedures and mitigating fraud.

Understands customer preferences and educates on self-service channels.

Escalates questions or concerns as needed.

Shareholder & Employee Accountabilities Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines (Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act) and risk management practices.

Supports daily store operations aligned with TD’s risk framework and policies.

Ensures accurate documentation and proper reflection of client intent; performs due diligence on transactions.

Adheres to TD’s Code of Conduct and TD’s Shared Commitments.

Contributes to a positive, inclusive work environment and collaborates with teammates to improve delivery and quality.

Engages in ongoing development, coaching, and career growth opportunities.

Acts as a brand ambassador for the Bank.

Supports referrals and partnerships with other bankers to meet customer needs.

Regulatory Language (OCC) This position falls within the definition of Loan Originator under Regulation Z and Mortgage Loan Originator under the SAFE Act; eligible for registration with the NMLS as required.

Must be eligible for employment with a covered financial institution under Regulation Z.

Required to pass criminal background check and credit check; provide disclosures as required by law.

Physical Requirements

Typical physical requirements include sedentary work with occasional movement; standing, walking and lifting up to 25 lbs; manual dexterity for standard office equipment; ability to concentrate for long periods; and routine reading, writing and calculation tasks.
