Lead Estimator Mechanical Contractor • Lexington, KY, United States
Responsibilities
Responsible for estimating and takeoffs of plumbing and HVAC including sheet metal projects.
The individual should have a good understanding of all aspects of estimating for mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel; is required to finalize project bid submissions on behalf and under the direction of leadership.
Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings.
Provide projects material takeoffs and pricing.
Attend project site surveys and walks.
Input missing information in the bid documents.
Completing the design with intent.
Provide conceptual drawings of material take-offs showing design intent.
Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training courses as needed and/or required.
Provide the material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
Collaborates with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and pricing including but not limited to calling and/or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
Ability to clearly write scope letters.
Finalize project estimates.
Provides detailed and complete information to operations leaders for smooth project turnovers, including all quantitative take-offs, quotations, and email correspondence.
Ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Trimble Viewpoint and/or QuickPen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and QuoteSoft experience preferred.
Bluebeam experience preferred.
Qualifications
12 years' experience in commercial plumbing and heating estimating.
10-12 years prior estimating experience.
Bachelor's degree in business or finance and/or equivalent associate degree in project management.
Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.
Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience.
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 30.
