The Sheriff\'s Office is seeking an experienced IT professional to join their team as an IT Specialist. Starting salary up to $58.58/hour ($122,263/year) and a competitive total compensation package. This is a Time-Limited IT Specialist position funded through October 8, 2029. What We Offer

About The Position
As part of the Technical Services Bureau in the Sheriff\'s Office, the IT Specialist provides technical support (hardware and software) and recommends technical solutions to staff using Law Enforcement and Detention applications and systems. Responsibilities include receiving and responding to calls, emails, and other electronic messages from staff, potentially up to 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Specific responsibilities include: Supporting and maintaining the Sheriff\'s Office server infrastructure, including building, updating, patching, and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers hosting Sheriff\'s Office applications and data Coordinating with the County of Sonoma\'s Information Systems Department on enterprise technology projects within the Sheriff\'s Office Coordinating with other public safety agencies on deployment, configuration, and support of shared technologies (e.g., computer-aided dispatch, records management, mobile data computers, data warehouse applications) Supporting and maintaining Biometric identification systems for the Sheriff\'s Office, Probation, and other law enforcement agencies The Ideal Candidate
A problem solver who can adapt to competing and changing priorities. They will have significant experience with Microsoft Client and Server Infrastructure; Microsoft Azure and PowerShell experience is highly desired. Experience in local government or a public safety organization is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess many of the following: Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, or Microsoft client/computer/server/device administration Certifications or training related to computer security Experience in customer service or a service desk in a Tier 1 or 2 role, including Windows 11 technical support Knowledge of Active Directory administration (file permissions, security groups, group policy) Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, SCCM, WSUS, and RDS server deployments Understanding of Networking Protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic LAN/WAN troubleshooting Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills Ability to review, comprehend, and write technical documentation Experience creating training materials and presenting information clearly A strong interest in seeing the results of work benefit the community Notes
The Sheriff\'s Office operates 24/7. IT Specialists may be on a standby on-call rotation (paid) and may work varying shifts, including weekends. A background clearance is required. Telework of up to two days per week is possible after the probationary period, subject to on-site staffing needs. Four-day, 10-hour schedules may be considered by management upon request.
