As an HR Specialist, you will support HR processes across departments, ensuring compliance and effective employee lifecycle practices. You will collaborate with leadership to design and implement programs and to support staffing actions, internships, talent outreach, and standardized workflows to improve consistency and efficiency. Responsibilities

Partner with department leadership to design and revise position descriptions that align with university standards and evolving organizational needs. Assist with compiling data for market reviews, equity analyses, and classification changes; prepare recommendations for new and current position inquiries. Assist with designing and implementing staff-focused programs to support the employee life cycle (e.g., career ladders, position level frameworks, certification programs). Support staffing actions for reorganizations and changes, ensuring process compliance and documentation accuracy. Collaborate with leaders to design, implement, and manage internship and student worker employment opportunities. Assist in developing standardized templates and workflows to increase consistency and efficiency across departments. Enhance employer branding through online platforms, professional organizations, career fairs, and outreach to trade schools. Prepare and post job advertisements across recruiting platforms and source candidates. Coordinate logistics for events such as career fairs, annual service awards, and professional development opportunities. Act as a departmental representative for career fairs, events, and committees; serve as a liaison between University Operations, UNL HR, the Business Center, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and institutional guidelines while communicating key updates to stakeholders. Guide departments through the search process and engage with candidates (preparation and management of search documentation, coordination of interviews, required approvals, offer development, and completion of pre-employment steps). Provide general personnel support to departments (performance management documentation, separation activities, organizational charts, and preparation/submission of personnel documents). Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, or equivalent education/work experience considered. 2+ years experience in human resources, people operations, or similar. 2+ years experience with job analysis and design, talent acquisition, position classification, compensation analysis, and/or job architecture development. Experience utilizing an HRIS, applicant tracking, or similar systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities. Skilled in assessing issues, identifying solutions, and providing guidance and direction. Solid understanding of human resources practices and terminology. Skilled in employer branding and/or talent outreach strategies. Proficient in creating well-structured written content for internal and external audiences. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Aptitude for learning and effectively using new technologies and systems. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive cross-team relationships. Service-minded with the ability to build trust and deliver consistent support. Preferred Qualifications

Experience serving multiple units as part of a larger team. Experience developing processes and procedures. Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations. Knowledgeable in organizational development initiatives such as career ladders or employee engagement programs. PHR or SHRM-CP Certification. Salary

Posted Salary: $50,328 - $55,361 annually Seniority level
