Our client is a privately owned consulting engineering firm with approximately 300 employees and multiple offices across Florida. They have a strong reputation in roadway and transportation projects and are rapidly expanding their presence in the Tallahassee (District 3) market, offering the opportunity to join a growing team within an established organization. We are seeking a CEI Senior Inspector to oversee and verify that construction activities are performed in accordance with project plans, FDOT requirements, and client quality standards, including accurate measurement, documentation, and payment of work. This role involves performing complex field inspections, surveying, testing, and engineering calculations while coordinating and supervising lower‑level inspectors and reporting progress to the Project Manager. The position requires 4+ years of FDOT CEI experience, active CTQP certifications, and the ability to work independently in demanding outdoor environments, including night, weekend, and overtime hours as needed.
Responsibilities
Ensure contractor work complies with project plans, specifications, FDOT requirements, and client quality standards
Perform complex field inspections including roadway, bridge, concrete, asphalt, steel, and earthwork construction
Monitor qualitative and quantitative aspects of construction, including accurate measurement and payment of work
Conduct field measurements, testing, and engineering calculations
Review construction layouts, survey data, and engineering computations
Prepare and maintain detailed field reports and documentation; report progress to the Project Manager/Administrator through regular updates and meetings
Coordinate, manage, and mentor lower‑level inspectors
Safely operate a company vehicle to and from project sites
Work independently in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions
Perform physical job functions including standing for extended periods, working on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, lifting up to 40 lbs, and repetitive bending or overhead work
Support nighttime, weekend, and overtime work as project schedules require
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 4+ years of FDOT CEI experience
Experience with FDOT‑related software systems, including MAC, Bluebeam, Hummingbird, and Site Manager
Active CTQP Certifications in Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, Pile Driving, and Drilled Shafts
