Do you want to make a difference in the lives of individuals? TLC, the Treatment and Learning Centers in Rockville, MD has an opening for a Part-Time Community Resource Advocate. This is an entry level position assisting adults with disabilities in the community. Examples include: learning basic skills with cooking, budgeting, and household chores; assisting people in accessing educational or recreational opportunities in the community; connecting people to community resources such as medical, housing or transportation. EOE
Responsibilities
Assist individuals with disabilities in the community to gain independence.
Help people learn basic skills with cooking, budgeting, and household chores (cleaning charts, grocery shopping).
Support access to educational or recreational opportunities in the community (movies, museums, live shows, sporting events, karaoke, physical fitness).
Connect people to community resources such as medical, housing or transportation.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services or a closely related field; direct work experience may substitute educational requirements
Experience working with individuals with neurological impairments and/or developmental disabilities
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Computer literacy
Must have a car
Highly organized with effective time management skills
Able to work with a team and support team members

Hours vary and may include some evenings and weekends. A company car may be provided to staff when supporting individuals. Rate of pay is $19.50 - $23 per hour, DOE. EOE.
