Overview
Rental Sales Trainee is an entry-level position responsible for completing a rigorous training program in preparation for assuming a CAT Rental Store sales territory. Sales Trainees must be able to perform independently while working under close supervision.
To remain in the Sales Training Program, candidates must successfully complete extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning. The Sales Trainee is expected to demonstrate initiative, a strong sense of urgency, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to identifying efficient, effective solutions.
This position requires a willingness to relocate anywhere within the Thompson Tractor territory as opportunities become available. A valid driver\'s license is required.
Essential Responsibilities & Expectations
Attend assigned instructor-led Service Training courses
Rotate through various service departments, including shop and field service
Work at the parts counter and support warehouse operations
Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Caterpillar product line
Assist with the collection of past-due invoices
Monitor and report on product performance and competitive activity
Serve as a liaison between customers, TTCO, and vendors
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with coworkers and internal teams
Negotiate mutually acceptable resolutions to customer concerns

Qualifications Education
High school diploma or the equivalent required.
College degree preferred
Experience
Previous sales and a working knowledge of the heavy equipment industry is preferred.
Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required.
Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required skills and competencies

Ability to speak, listen, read, write, and type effectively
Ability to reach, kneel, grasp, stoop, and perform repetitive motions
Ability to lift and carry items up to 75 pounds
Ability to climb on and around heavy equipment
Ability to drive during daytime and nighttime hours
Exposure to potential tripping, slipping, and falling hazards
Work in environments with job site-related hazards
Exposure to driving-related hazards
Ability to work effectively in stressful or high-pressure situations
