Moorhead Country Club Role summary : The Lead Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent on all golf course related decisions, where input and ideas are valued and encouraged. Duties and Responsibilities
Strong staff leadership including scheduling, training, supervision, and development of full-time and seasonal staff Work with crew on projects throughout the golf course Proper calibration, mixing, and application of chemicals and fertilizers Scheduling, maintenance, and repair of a Toro irrigation system with VP Satellites and Lynx irrigation software Tree trimming and removal Daily course preparation Disease scouting, diagnosis and management Effective moisture management of all playing surfaces Aid in planning and completion of golf course upgrades and in-house construction projects Record keeping and inventory management Participate in club capital purchases and budgeting Winter work includes snow plowing, tree trimming, and help with equipment maintenance and repairs Other miscellaneous duties Requirements and Qualifications
Certificate, Two- or Four-year degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Agronomy or a closely related field Previous experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is preferred, or several years of relevant golf course experience in an advanced capacity Strong leadership skills Must possess or obtain Minnesota Department of Agriculture non-commercial pesticide applicators license category A & E within 60 days of hire Strong work ethic, highly organized, positive attitude, motivated, energetic leader with high attention to detail Willingness to learn and grow within the industry; enthusiasm to ask questions Strong communication skills Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. An essential function of the job is to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
