The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a Police Officer - Lateral. This position is located in Aurora, CO and is expected to work onsite. Responsibilities

Conduct foot and vehicular patrols to detect and deter criminal activity; contact and identify persons on reports of criminal or suspicious activity; arrest, book, and transport suspects or prisoners; initiate emergency procedures for gravely disabled persons; assist other law enforcement by serving arrest warrants; direct traffic; collect evidence; cover officers on emergency calls near the campus; and testify in court. Process crime scenes by collecting and preserving evidence; interview suspects, victims, and witnesses; conduct investigative follow-ups; conduct special or target investigations to apprehend criminals or deter crime; prepare case documents and evidence for prosecution through the district attorney; testify in court. Perform traffic duties including directing traffic for routine activities, special assignments, and emergencies; conduct traffic enforcement, DUI investigations, and parking enforcement; investigate traffic accidents; testify in court. Prepare reports such as criminal offense, custody, incident, field interview, traffic accident, and criminal traffic citations; generate other reports as required. Respond to emergencies including intrusion, panic alarms, fires, chemical spills, bomb threats, hazardous situations; evacuate persons; coordinate with and assist emergency response units; respond to medical and other emergency calls; maintain fitness to respond to emergent and non-emergent situations. Perform service calls and special assignments such as escorting persons, providing motorist assistance, public speaking on crime prevention and campus safety, and providing protection for visiting dignitaries; support graduations, ceremonies, special events, and other public gatherings. Training, qualifications, and systems

Training in criminal law and procedure; firearms; first aid and CPR; hazardous materials; chemical weapons; impact weapons; KOGA; and maintaining proficiency and certification in required skills. Computer utilization and data entry using police and law enforcement software for reports, suspect and crime information, significant incidents, intelligence, and investigations. The incumbent must be P.O.S.T. certified at the time of application. Out-of-state officers residing in Colorado with certification transferred to Colorado P.O.S.T. are encouraged to apply. Minimum and preferred qualifications

Minimum: employment in a law enforcement role + patrol capacity within the past 12 months at a Municipal, County, State or University Law Enforcement agency and two (2) years of patrol experience as a P.O.S.T. certified Police Officer or Sheriff\'s Deputy. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of application. Preferred: prior experience as a Police Officer for a higher education or healthcare facility; experience with Versaterm or similar records management system; proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook; bilingual (Spanish & English preferred); bachelor\'s degree or higher; strong analytical thinking and problem-solving; ability to make quick decisions under pressure; effective written and oral communication; professionalism, leadership, and integrity; environmental awareness; physical strength and agility; advanced police knowledge; ability to build relationships across the institution; outstanding customer service; attention to detail; and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Conditions of employment

Current, active Colorado POST certification at time of hire or eligibility for Colorado POST provisional certification within 6 months (Out-of-State Provisional POST may be sponsored). Age 21 or older; no felony convictions or domestic violence history; valid Colorado driver\'s license or ability to obtain within 6 months; fluent English; willingness to work rotating/straight shifts, weekends, and holidays; capable of covering shifts and responding to emergencies; provide off-hour contact information for emergencies or staffing shortages; maintain physical condition to complete required performance testing. Starting salary range: $73,902 - $100,200. External candidates may receive a one-time recruitment incentive of up to $5,000 or 10% of starting salary; the incentive is paid in two installments (start date and after training). The salary range is University’s good faith estimate at posting and the position may be eligible for overtime; total compensation includes benefits beyond base pay.
