Department Office of the Registrar

Reports to Supervisor

FLSA Non-Exempt

Hours Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended hours when requested)

Location Orange Beach, AL

Compensation Starting at $17.00/hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and company compensation guidelines.

Job Summary The Evaluator I is responsible for evaluating transcripts and certifications for all students transferring to Columbia Southern University from other institutions, domestic and/or foreign.

Essential Job Tasks

Evaluates transfer credit by reviewing transcripts and professional certifications to determine whether course requirements meet the university’s criteria for selected degree programs.

Conducts research on transferring credit by reviewing appropriate documents (e.g., course syllabi, course descriptions, college catalogs), contacting previously attended schools to obtain information, and benchmarking other institutions learning best practices to properly evaluate and equate transferrable courses and professional certificates.

Performs varied assignments within the Office of the Registrar by supporting relevant stakeholders and obtaining the necessary information to successfully complete the projects in order to meet the needs of the university.

Promotes, maintains and enhances workplace culture within the Office of the Registrar and the university.

Knowledge

English Language – knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Academic Processes – knowledge of university guidelines, course descriptions, and academic terminology.

Clerical – knowledge of office administrative procedures including word processing, managing files and records, typing, and other office procedures.

Computer – knowledge of basic computer processes including word processing, web browsing, and Microsoft Office including Basic Microsoft Excel.

Mathematics – knowledge of basic mathematics.

Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university required.

Equipment Used

Office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.

Software used includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software.

Work Environment Works primarily within a climate‑controlled environment within a cubicle setting, mostly sedentary with frequent sitting, occasional walking and lifting, and frequent near‑vision use for reading and computer use. The noise level is generally moderate.
