POSITION SUMMARY The
Cook 2 (Prep Cook / Deli Cook)
supports daily kitchen production by preparing deli‑style and prep food items according to Abby’s recipes, specifications, and food safety standards. This role operates in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and plays a key role in maintaining consistency, quality, and kitchen readiness.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare deli‑style and prep food items according to recipes, prep lists, and production specifications
Complete food preparation, portioning, and assembly for cold and deli items
Support daily production flow to meet all kitchen ready times
Complete food safety and temperature documentation daily
Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and FIFO practices
Control overproduction and minimize waste
Trim and break down proteins as needed
Operate kitchen and deli equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations
Work collaboratively with team members and leadership
Assist Executive Chef or Sous Chef with assigned tasks
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Follow all food safety, HACCP, and quality assurance standards
Maintain accurate production and temperature logs
Adhere to PPE, hygiene, and sanitation requirements
Ensure all work meets regulatory and company standards
Report safety or equipment issues promptly
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate strong deli and prep cooking fundamentals
Perform knife skills, slicing, portioning, and food assembly accurately
Work efficiently in a high‑volume, fast‑paced kitchen or deli production environment
Follow batch recipes using proper tools (scales, scoops, slicers, etc.)
Display attention to detail and food quality at all times
Adapt quickly to changing priorities
Work independently with minimal supervision
Maintain professionalism and urgency during shifts

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum
3 years of experience
as a Prep Cook, Deli Cook, or similar role in a high‑volume foodservice environment
Strong knowledge of deli food preparation, ingredients, and cooking techniques
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety programs
Food Protection / Food Safety Certification required (e.g., ServSafe)
Ability to work weekdays from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Weekends and company‑observed holidays are off.
Fluent ENGLISH communication skills required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office‑building culinary production environment. Consistent weekday operation supporting corporate dining services.
