Referrals Specialist I – Hybrid – Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Position Summary:
The Referrals Specialist I manages patient information at Urban Health Plan, performing insurance verification, referral management, prior authorizations, and ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma required.
1‑2 years of related healthcare experience with medical terminology and coding knowledge.
Comfortable working in a high‑volume call environment.
Bilingual Spanish/English required.
ICD‑10 Coding certification a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Key Duties:
Enter high volume of patient information and ancillary referrals via phone and fax.
Review patient information for specialty, referral reason, ICD‑10 diagnosis, medications, etc.
Obtain prior authorizations from patient insurance carriers.
Respond promptly to patient requests for information.
Ensure ongoing compliance with confidentiality standards.
Contact external specialists and schedule appointments for patients.
Starting Compensation:
$19.50 per hour (minimum and maximum). This is a full‑time position.
