Activity Aide/Coordinator Opportunity - PRN at West Oaks Hospital. West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and includes a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults, with treatment at inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist with treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria.

West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Activity Aide/Coordinator to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Activity Coordinator assists the Recreation Therapist and Director of Recreation Therapy in designing and implementing therapeutic recreation services to improve the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of patients. Coordinates entertainment, exercise, relaxation, expression, music, art and other recreational programs.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Assists recreation therapy department in hospital wide special events.
Works with treatment team to develop a structured curriculum adaptable to various cultural backgrounds, heritage, and identity of patients.
Maintains recreational areas and equipment.
Completes documentation accurately and timely.
Maintains observation of patients and shares appropriate information with manager.
Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements:
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
Licensure and certification Required: CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications.
Experience Required: One year of experience in program specialty. Preferred: One year in experience in program specialty in a healthcare environment.
