Individual Giving, Manager, Mid-Level Donors

Salary: $240,000.00‑$260,000.00
Summary of Responsibilities The Volunteer Manager oversees the strategic vision, development, and execution of the Forgotten Harvest Volunteer Program. This role ensures that volunteer engagement supports organizational and philanthropic goals, strengthens community partnerships, and creates a meaningful and rewarding experience for all participants to ensure that Forgotten Harvest remains a premier volunteer destination in Metro Detroit. The Manager focuses on big‑picture programming, evaluation, and growth, while supervising the Group Relations Coordinator and Receptionist to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent public interaction.
Duties / Essential Functions
Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Forgotten Harvest.
Develop and implement a long‑term volunteer engagement strategy aligned with organizational and philanthropic goals.
Supervise and mentor the Group Relations Coordinator and Receptionist; ensure cohesive team operations.
Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to integrate volunteer strategy into the overall philanthropy plan.
In coordination with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, utilize volunteer data to build a donor pipeline through strategic outreach and engagement.
Oversee development of volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of service.
Lead volunteer recruitment, recognition, and retention strategies and proactively build a pipeline for volunteers with professional expertise and longer‑term commitment.
Collaborate cross‑departmentally (Operations, Farm, Philanthropy, and Marketing) to align volunteer efforts with programmatic and fundraising initiatives.
Analyze data, produce reports, and provide insight into volunteer participation and satisfaction. Develop partnerships with corporations, schools, and community groups to expand volunteer engagement.
Evaluate volunteer programming annually for impact, efficiency, and equity, and design and implement program improvements to enhance the volunteer experience.
Support off‑site and large‑scale volunteer events as needed (may include evenings/weekends).
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in volunteer management or nonprofit leadership.
Proven experience in staff supervision, volunteer engagement, and program development.
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
