Job Description A day in the life of a Field Property Adjuster, and what it takes to do the job.
As a Field Property Adjuster, you will be dedicated to providing exceptional service to our policyholders. Your primary responsibility will involve traveling to customers’ homes to conduct on-site inspections, investigate coverage, prepare estimates, and settle claims promptly and efficiently. Additionally, you will handle virtual claims countrywide, leveraging platforms such as Xactimate and ClaimsX Video Collaboration. Your expertise will focus on water losses.
Responsibilities
Customer Service Expert – live into Allstate’s Claims Culture by caring, empowering, and restoring, with compassion, clarity, and commitment.
Investigator – confidently investigate property claims by reviewing damage and interpreting policies.
Effective Communicator – use phone, email, and video chat to guide customers through a fast, fair process.
Negotiator – evaluate and negotiate settlements with customers, vendors, carriers, and claimants, using tactics for challenging situations.
Problem Solver – utilize tools to complete work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Recorder – protect company finances by executing policies and maintaining accurate documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Reside in the greater Northern Virginia area.
Previous experience as an outside adjuster.
Proficiency in Xactimate and related estimating software.
Strong critical thinking and technical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ready to travel to customers’ homes and handle virtual claims nationwide.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Will willing to carry a 50-pound ladder and access up to a 6/12 pitch on roofs.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
Training
Training program to build claims foundation and understand systems and processes.
Ongoing on-the-job training opportunities for continuous improvement.
Required 2-week training in Wheeling, IL.
Licensing Requirement
May require adjuster and/or appraiser license; must be secured within 60 days of hire.
Hiring Manager and Licensing team will assist as needed.
Sign On Bonus
Eligible for $1,000 licensing sign-on bonus if holding required active licenses, e.g., Home Resident Property & Casualty License, DHS Florida/Texas License, or applicable Appraiser License.
Current and former Allstate employees are ineligible.
Company Car Role may qualify for a company car based on mileage. Personal vehicle may be used until guidelines are met, with mileage reimbursement.
