Position Summary
Evaluates all contract documents including all bid drawings, specifications, general conditions and, if necessary, visits the project site.
Ability to identify and quantify piping materials, valves, piping specialty items, piping instruments, and typical pipe supports.
Reads and understands the scope of work, pipe specifications, and performs quantity takeoff for piping and mechanical systems.
Lists items taken off from piping documents on a standard takeoff sheet and categorizes them by proper pipe specification.
Reads a client‑provided piping bill of materials.
Reads and takes off items shown on Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
Reads and takes off items shown on piping isometric drawings, understanding them from a constructability standpoint.
Reads and takes off items shown on piping orthographic (plan) drawings.
Organizes the take‑off process to conform to the bid breakdown forms and submittals.
Estimates small piping projects with minimal documentation based on field experience.
Visualizes what is not apparent or missing from project documentation and mitigates potential risks.
Maintains a list of clarifications, assumptions, and qualifications identified as risks and discrepancies during proposal development.
Assists with determining installation schemes to establish project schedule, crew sizing, and ability to quantify geographical challenges.
Applies company historical rate and production information for estimates.
Has basic understanding of trades other than piping (paint, insulation, scaffolding, etc.).
Reviews available plans and specifications to ensure estimated materials are compliant.
Prepares and issues bid package to subcontractors for trades that are not self‑performed.
Solicits pricing from material vendors and subcontractors.
Coordinates with other team members on larger multi‑discipline estimates.
Communicates with Senior Managers to ensure critical issues and estimate assumptions are resolved.
Ensures compliance with Alberici QA/QC and safety standards as well as client and industry requirements.
Ensures estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
Develops project schedules with emphasis on pipe erection and writes execution plans as required.
Researches and develops innovative means and methods.
Prepares proposals, when necessary, in conjunction with business development resources.
On successful bids coordinates with operations teams to provide a thorough transition and turnover of the estimate.
Assists project management staff with pricing issues on major project revisions after award.
Processes and manages large numbers of documents and data, organized to allow recall of work breakdowns, sketches, and other information to substantiate the pricing estimate.
and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field AND internship/apprentice related experience and/or training OR equivalent education and experience.
