Job Summary As a senior sales associate you will be the face of our company. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You will also act as a team leader to the associates, giving work direction and training. Through a continuous learning environment, you will stay current on products and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. A positive and outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact to the organization is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.

Ask questions and listen to customer needs.

Direct customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.

Provide premier customer service, cooperate and build positive inclusive and respectful relationships, and take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.

Maintain store appearance.

Cross‑sell products and know the layout of the store.

Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs.

Upsell products.

Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge specifications.

Use a Point‑of‑Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.

Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.

Act as the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.

Participate in periodic inventories.

Provide guidance on how merchandise should be displayed.

Adhere to assigned work schedule and follow through on work assignments accurately and completely.

Provide direction, work assignments, and training for sales associates (supervisory responsibilities).

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Moderate level of product and merchandise knowledge.

Provide training documentation to sales associates on product features.

6 months of retail or relevant work experience required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management, and to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Ability to multi‑task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to business needs.

Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.

OTHER SKILLS Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.

WORK HOURS Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE 6 months of responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind where the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE Graduation from a full 4‑year or senior high school, or possession of a General Education Development (GED) certificate, may be substituted for the experience requirements.
