Job Title: Direct Care Worker II (250008GP)
Department: Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
Location: Templeton Community Services Program, Baldwinville, MA
Schedule: 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM (Night shift) with days off Friday/Saturday. 24/7 staff position; mandatory overtime may be required.
Job Summary The DCW II is a shift supervisor position that provides oversight and direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role offers career advancement within DDS.
Responsibilities
Assist individuals in meeting personal care and nutritional needs.
Assist and support individuals in making choices in their life.
Maintain individuals’ rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations.
Provide leisure activities; may drive individuals to work, appointments, and recreational activities.
Provide daily supervision and training to Direct Care Worker I staff to ensure they act as advocates and demonstrate respect and positive regard.
Oversee, as shift supervisor, the health and safety of individuals by administering medications.
Communicate with appropriate medical and health care providers regarding health concerns and accompany individuals to appointments as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of practices and procedures necessary to assure health and safety, including evacuation procedures.
Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate activities of others.
Ability to give written or oral instructions clearly and understandably.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must have (A) at least one year of full-time or equivalent part‑time experience providing direct support services to persons with developmental/intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities, or (B) an equivalent combination of experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
An associate’s degree or higher with a major in a human services field, including sociology, special education, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other related field may substitute for required experience.
Incumbents must possess a current valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
Other Information Salary placement is determined by experience, education, and internal structure. Compensation ranges: $51,155.26 - $66,059.24 yearly.
