We are hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Diesel Technician Trainee in Glen Burnie, Maryland. This entry‑level position requires no prior experience and offers paid training.

Position Overview Pay every week:

Hourly $17.00 Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines (preferred)

Minimum age 18

Proficiency in written and verbal English

Demonstrated customer service skills

Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn

Ability to:

Quickly troubleshoot and resolve problems (preferred)

Work independently and as part of a team

Represent Ryder professionally to employees and customers

Time‑management and priority‑setting skills

Reliable attendance and performance track record

Personal accountability and results orientation

Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office

Beginner knowledge of machines and tools, and shop management systems (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

DOT safety‑regulated position; regulated tech

Safety‑sensitive position; age and work‑hours governed by state law

Regulated Tech

Obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass Ryder drug test

Pass DOT physical

Pass Ryder road test

Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last three years

Important Note:

Some positions require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, road test, and/or background requirements of the customer assigned.

Responsibilities

Move heavy‑duty vehicles into/out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop. Wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles while adhering to shop safety policies and procedures; record fuel activity and maintain fuel and DEF inventories.

Perform multi‑point inspections on inbound units: check tire pressure, tread, fluid levels, lights, wash windows, change tires, inspect refrigeration units, and report issues.

Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards; perform facility maintenance and minor tasks as assigned.

Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments. Training includes hands‑on and online modules.
