Immediately hiring a permanent, full‑time diesel technician trainee. This entry‑level position does not require prior experience.

Position Description We will pay you while you train to become a Ryder diesel mechanic technician in New Brunswick, New Jersey. If you are interested in starting a new career, Ryder is looking for you!

Benefits

Hourly pay: $22.00 per hour

Certification bonus of up to $700 ($100 for each new ASE certification)

Quarterly bonus: up to $500, four times per year

Schedule: Monday through Saturday with one day off each week

First shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

No experience needed

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Zero to one year of mechanical experience with diesel engines (preferred)

Must be 18 years of age or older

Proficiency in written and verbal English

Demonstrated customer‑service skills

Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn

Ability to troubleshoot, work independently and as part of a team

Professional representation of Ryder to employees and customers

Effective time‑management and priority setting

Good attendance and track record of performance

Commitment to personal accountability and achieving results

Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency

Basic knowledge of shop machines and tools (preferred)

Basic knowledge of shop management systems (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

DOT safety‑regulated position, no violations (required)

Safety‑sensitve role; age and hours governed by state law (required)

Regulated Tech Requirements

Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years)

Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer‑specific background requirements.

Responsibilities

Move heavy‑duty vehicles into or out of the yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop; wash and detail vehicles manually or with automated equipment.

Fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles while adhering to all shop safety policies; record fuel activity and maintain proper fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliations.

Perform multi‑point inspections of inbound units (tire pressure, fluid levels, lights, weather stripping, etc.) and report service or driver issues to the shop.

Maintain the fuel island area to Six Sigma standards; perform facility maintenance and minor repairs as assigned.

Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments, including hands‑on and online training on service island, preventive maintenance, tire and wheel, service bay tools, HD electrical, and brake systems.

Complete other duties as assigned.
