We’re currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial Real Estate Paralegal who enjoys working closely with attorneys and clients, managing substantive matters, and playing a key role in complex commercial transactions.
This is a full-time, in-office position located in our downtown Raleigh office.
Primary Responsibility The primary responsibility of this position is to provide comprehensive support to the assigned attorney in the management of multiple ground-up real estate development sites, from the outset of engagement at the LOI stage, throughout due diligence, closing, construction and store opening. These responsibilities include:
Managing initial file in-take process
Ordering and reviewing title commitments and underlying title from various jurisdictions
Addressing the satisfaction of title requirements and resolution of title exceptions and curative measures with title company, buyer/seller/landlords, lenders and third parties
Reviewing ALTA surveys and coordinating revisions with surveyor
Drafting title survey memos and title objection letters
Uploading and retrieving documents to/from client portal
Drafting notices and assembling overnight delivery packages
Calculating and management of critical dates of the purchase contract or ground lease
Maintaining legal due diligence checklists, internal and client reports
Coordinating commercial closings with title company, buyer/seller/landlords, lenders and third parties
Tracking time, describing tasks and entering time into billing software system
Job Requirements
Maintaining excellent interpersonal communications – written and oral – with managing attorneys, clients, client consultants and firm vendors
Prioritizing deadlines, while maintaining the flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands
Following protocols in adhering to firm systems and keeping subject matter organized
Completing work product in a timely and accurate manner
Desire to perform duties at the highest level
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or NC Paralegal Certification
3+ years of experience supporting a commercial real estate practice in a law firm
Experience with timekeeping and billing procedures within a law firm environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proactive, positive, and team-oriented mindset
