Personal/Real Property Specialist – Assessor's Office
Maintains the Personal/Real Property database, creates accounts, and provides taxpayer assistance and customer service. Assists Personal Property Appraisers, Auditors, and Real Property Appraisers.
Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of related experience performing general administrative support duties and providing customer service; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
Essential Functions
Creates and updates Personal/Real Property records in a database.
Provides customer service to taxpayers in person and on the phone for Personal Property, Real Property, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Receives, verifies, and records taxpayer payments under applicable statutes, ordinances, and policies.
Audits, scans, indexes, routes, and maintains documents in an electronic filing system.
Prepares standardized correspondence.
Compile data and research properties for taxpayers.
May perform the functions of a Notary Public.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of
Basic business letter writing
Basic office equipment and personal computer use
General office filing techniques
Optimal imaging filing systems
Basic mathematical skills
State motor vehicle titling requirements
GIS/ArcMap software applications and pictometry
Skills and Abilities to
Work with computer software and programs related to job-specific duties
Effectively assist taxpayers in stressful situations
Effectively apply general principles to specific conditions
Sort, check, count, and verify numbers
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Type accurately
Work effectively as part of a team or independently
Read and utilize schedules, tables, and charts
Anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction
Read and interpret property legal descriptions
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work duties are generally performed in a typical office setting.
