As a growing nonprofit, animal welfare organization, we are seeking to add a marketing professional to creatively and effectively communicate our mission and share our stories with the community.
Responsibilities Include
Design and draft the organization’s e-newsletters, including but not limited to our bi-weekly e-newsletter, the Top Five, and the quarterly volunteer newsletter, Shelter Tales.
Gather, create, and share engaging content to connect with potential adopters, fosters and donors on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant social media platforms.
Create and adhere to an effective social media schedule and strategy that aligns with Five Acres Animal Shelter’s mission and needs.
Write pet biographies for online animal listings and marketing, in coordination with the Canine and Feline teams.
Take high-quality photos of adoptable animals, volunteers, staff and shelter ongoings for our website, social media and marketing collateral.
Correspond with social media engagements with professionalism, seeking to effectively answer questions, comments and concerns.
Development and implement post-adoption support communication to adopters.
Assist with creating graphics, brochures, and print collateral for programs, events and campaigns.
Support the Development Director and Executive Director with miscellaneous Capital Campaign assignments.
Design and draft organizational marketing materials.
Manage and update the organization’s website as needed.
Other marketing related duties as needed.
Other Duties:
Complete a training orientation with our Feline and Canine team members to learn basic animal handling processes and procedures.
Be present for some special events, which may include some evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
A passion for animal welfare and the Five Acres Animal Shelter mission.
Strong attention to details and organizational skills.
Experience in communications, graphic/web design, and marketing.
High-functioning knowledge in design programs (Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite) and ability to create polished, professional marketing materials.
High functioning knowledge of standard computer programs and ability to learn new software (Donor Perfect, Shelter Luv, Better Impact).
Reliable transportation with the ability to be onsite, full-time at Five Acres.
Comfortable with verbal and written communication with donors, adopters, visitors and community members.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Ability to climb stairs several times per day.
Ability to lift, scoop, bend, twist, and walk as part of essential job functions.
Work Environment: Work is performed in an animal shelter. Potential for exposure to environmental factors such as zoonotic diseases, temperature variations, high noise levels, animal waste, hazardous chemicals, anesthetics, sharp objects, and potential hostile persons and/or dangerous and aggressive animals
