Essential Functions

  • Photograph all requested events onboard and ashore as required, proactively maximizing image counts and quality to meet performance goals.
  • Wear mascot costumes inside/outside the ship for photo shoots, engaging guests with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by maintaining a friendly, warm and calm attitude toward guests and crew.
  • Protect all company inventory and equipment through proper handling and security procedures.
  • Follow departmental and shipboard environmental rules and regulations, including use of Personal Protective Equipment when working in the Photo Lab.
  • Handle guest requests and questions related to the photo department and general shipboard issues.
  • Have at least 1 department-approved camera body available, maintained in full working condition at the owner’s expense.
  • Be familiar with a range of photographic equipment, including digital SLR cameras, portrait studio equipment, computers and image editing software.
  • Work with the team to continuously improve image quality, production levels and sales to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel practices and shipboard policies by reporting non-compliant practices to the department head.
  • Represent the photo department in guest and crew interactions.
  • Cover photo events as deemed necessary by the Photo Manager.
  • Assist guests in locating displayed photos and using digital photo kiosks.
  • Work quickly and efficiently with the highest standards of customer service to photograph guest events on cruise ships with up to 4,000 guests onboard.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and sales skills in the Photo Gallery to maximize guest satisfaction and revenue for the Photographic Department.
  • Properly handle photographic studio equipment (lights, backdrops, safety equipment) with care.
  • Enjoy working with the public and converse with guests and crew in clear, fluent English.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; duties may be broadened to align with the position’s responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for the position.

Qualifications, Education and Attributes

  • Required – Minimum six (6) months experience in a customer service and/or sales environment.
  • Required – Minimum six (6) months experience as a professional photographer or certificate from cruise ship photography training.
  • Intermediate to advanced English verbal and written skills, including proper grammar.
  • Basic knowledge to operate basic computer systems and touch-screen kiosks.

Education

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education at an equivalent rate.
