POWER Engineers
POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Drafter to join our Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Boise, Idaho office. This person will be part of a dynamic team that provides engineering services to clients across the country and abroad. Who You Are
Technical Requirements and Development
Develop working knowledge of Client/Power CAD Standards and Compliance.
Adhere to POWER’s QA/QC procedure requiring utmost personal accountability to enhance the project team’s success.
Maintain a high level of drafting quality and efficiency in alignment with project scope and budget.
Develop an understanding in both AutoCAD and MicroStation to support project requirements, which include:
Vicinity Maps
Structure List
Plan and Profiles
Phasing Drawings
Foundation Drawings
Structure Assembly Drawings
Permit and Crossing Drawings
Load and Design Drawings
Through drafting assignments and project work, seek to gain a transmission line understanding beyond just the redline mark‑ups.
Travel to client offices, field, and vendor facilities as needed.
Required Education/Experience
Associate’s degree or 1‑year certificate in drafting (or equivalent technical degree)
AutoCAD 2020‑2025 experience
Adobe PDF creation
Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Time management and organizational skills are essential
Must be flexible to changes in work assignments as project needs change
Must be able to self‑check own work for completeness and accuracy
Able to read and interpret drawings and drawing mark‑ups
Able to use architectural and engineering scale to read and create drawings
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills
Preferred Education/Experience
Experience with AutoCAD
Experience with MicroStation is a plus
Knowledge of MS Office products
Good background in basic mathematics
Experience working with 3D drafting and detailing is a plus
Bluebeam Revu experience is a plus
Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems is a plus
Practical intern or utility industry experience is preferred
