The Sherwood Companies have a proven track record of completing a variety of projects from General Construction to Construction Management and Design Build Projects for both public and private owners. A brief summary of the types of projects include urban expressways, bridges, underground utilities, dam construction, asphalt/concrete paving and water/wastewater treatment plants.
Job Description The incumbent will be responsible for designing, installing and repairing rough wooden structures, including: scaffolds, guardrail, concrete forms, sewer supports and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. Travel may be required. This role is classified as safety sensitive.

Responsibilities
Keep work area clean, orderly and safe
Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or plans to prepare the layout of the project
Estimate height, width, length and other proportions
Select materials
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and/or erect structures
Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives
Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings
Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications
Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
Build concrete forms for tunnel or sewer construction project
Erect scaffolding
Build guardrail

2-3 years of experience in heavy construction carpentry experience preferred

Keyboarding/typing
Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy

Ability to effectively verbally communicate
Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk and lift heavy objects (50 lbs)
