The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Commercial Manager
to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide leadership in commercial strategy, manage client relationships, and oversee all financial and contractual aspects of projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, identifying risks, and implementing strategies that protect our clients’ commercial interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies for projects.
Oversee and prepare financial reports, including Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and earned value management (EVM).
Provide advice on contract structure, procurement, and risk mitigation strategies.
Represent the company in client-facing negotiations, progress meetings, and dispute resolution forums.
Ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, including preparation and review of contracts (i.e. JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
Assist in the preparation and defence of claims, collaborating with delay analysts and quantum experts.
Manage and mentor a team of commercial professionals, fostering professional growth and development.
Identify and implement lessons learned to improve processes.
Drive business development activities, building new relationships and strengthening existing client connections.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in commercial management with a Tier-One Main Contractor (or consultancy)
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
Membership of a recognised professional body (i.e. RICS, ICES)
Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC, FIDIC and JCT.
Proven experience in contract negotiation, procurement strategies, and claims preparation.
Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
A proactive approach to dispute avoidance and resolution.
