Full job description About the position:
The Nutrition Consultant will assist the Delaware Opportunities Inc Head Start in the implementation nutrition related Performance Standards with the shared goal of achieving them with fidelity.
The Consultant provides support and education for Head Start children, staff, management and families of enrolled children in the areas of nutrition services.
The expected Consultant services provided include:
Collaborate with the Health Services Manager to support existing nutrition services, including policies and
procedures for assessing a child’s nutritional status
Available for staff and parent trainings promoting child family and staff nutritional wellness education
Review and approve USDA & CACFP cycle menus
Review Children’s body mass index (BMI) and assist development and implement Individual Nutrition Plans
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Knowledgeable of early childhood education, nutrition, growth and development
Knowledge of Head Start
Knowledge of USDA CACFP requirements
High organizational skills
Ability to work as a team member
Passion to make a difference
Open-minded
Use effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
Highly dependable with strong work ethic
Excellent follow up skills
Required Education and Experience:
Registration with the commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition
Two years of related experience as a nutritionist or dietitian in a health program including services in infants and children
