City of Hope is seeking an experienced HVAC Facilities Mechanic with a background in healthcare, commercial, and/or industrial settings. As a successful candidate, you will:
Independently perform complex repairs on HVAC systems and related components.
Troubleshoot HVAC issues that impact patient care areas, prioritizing critical services.
Perform diagnostics and advanced repairs on Air‑handlers, Package units, VFDs, and BMS‑controlled equipment.
Respond to service requests and work orders for patient care areas, labs, and support departments.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building HVAC systems & components.
Document work in the CMMS/Nuvolo system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Balance and calibrate airflow, hydronic, and pressurization systems to meet patient care requirements.
Manage critical environments (ORs, isolation rooms, pharmacies under USP 797/800).
Be experienced with troubleshooting BMS controls (Siemens, Climatec, Trane, etc.).
Oversee vendor‑performed maintenance on large‑scale air‑handlers, fan walls, mini splits, and package units.
Ensure regulatory compliance for HVAC systems (temperature, humidity, pressurization logs).
Your qualifications should include:
High School Diploma required. 4 additional years of experience may substitute for minimum education (College or Trade school preferred).
5 or more years of applicable crafts experience. At least 2 years in HVAC, electrical, autoclave, locksmith, plumbing, advanced carpentry, or advanced painting trades.
Certification or demonstrated proficiency in 3 or more trades. At least one trade must include HVAC, electrical, autoclave, plumbing, locksmith, advanced carpentry, or advanced painting. Other eligible trades include carpentry, painting, Maintenance Repair Rounds (MR.R) or automotive mechanics.
Trade certification preferred.
Excellent communication skills in working with clinical staff, leaders, and vendors.
Current CA driver’s license and a good driving record.
Additional Information: This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
