Job Summary As Senior Category Business Manager, Customer Initiatives, you will manage special projects in partnership with Foodbuy’s Account Managers and Customers and drive new value to Foodbuy, our customers, and supplier partners. You will conduct holistic commercial reviews of the supply chain and purchasing behaviors of targeted Foodbuy customers, align customer needs with program opportunities, and present an in‑depth plan for maximizing the commercial value of Foodbuy’s partnership. Success in this role will evolve from strong project management, hands‑on commercial analysis, thoughtful relationship building with internal and external partners, and the ability to present your ideas to inspire action.
What You’ll Do
Act as project lead and coordinate cross‑functional participation for deep dive investigations into all aspects of targeted customer purchasing behaviors.
Based on in‑depth analysis and an understanding of customer goals, develop a strategy that delivers strong financial results.
Identify category improvement opportunities and provide recommendations.
Negotiate with suppliers to drive savings opportunities for customers.
Collaborate with customer culinary team and supplier partners to identify product recommendations based on quality, value, yield, and application.
Work closely with distribution to remove barriers preventing customer access to Foodbuy programs and increase product availability.
Present project findings to customers, influence buy‑in, coordinate implementation, and track results.
What You’ll Need
5+ years of category management or customer account management experience is preferred.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
A great attitude – flexibility, optimism, resourcefulness, and transparency.
Experience with broader aspects of supply chain and a broader business perspective such as balancing cost, value, risk, and opportunity.
Ability to extract insights from complex data sets using advanced Excel skills.
Strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
Strong influencing and presentation skills.
Capacity to handle multiple changing agendas and identify creative solutions to overcome barriers.
High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel 10% to 20% annually.
