FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is essential. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only, although about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Inspectors work at a county level; you will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county and may split the county with another inspector if volume warrants.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
Finish the inspection within four days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take nine or more photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Spend extended periods driving within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Compensation & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour .
Based on county and urban/rural status, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month to month and earnings can increase with experience and territory coverage.
Other Information No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
