Under the direction of the Fabrication Coordinator, the Metal Fabricator II will be responsible for production of quality parts, pieces, and/or completed products for intermediate complex projects. The Fabricator II will perform work free-hand or utilize fixtures/jigs that have been created.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
Develop layout and sequence of operations for fabrication and assembling custom structural metal products, applying print reading, mathematics, and knowledge of metals and welding
Position, align, fit, and weld together parts, using jigs, welding torch, arc welder, and hand tools
Verify conformance of work – piece to specifications using square, ruler, and tape measure
Fully capable of performing MIG welding with TIG welding as a plus
Set up and correctly use shop machines such as welders, oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, metal shear, press brake, and burn table
Utilize all powered and unpowered hand tools
Provide own tools for standard fabricating tasks – specialty tools provided
Operate fork trucks and overhead cranes
Keep work area and surrounding adequately clean
Observe and follow all safety rules as well as general company rules
Self-starter attitude and ability to be disciplined, organized, and motivated to perform with little to no direct supervision
Capable of fabricating and assembling a quality product
Mentor and help guide Metal Fabricator I
Adhere to company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for employees
Other duties may be assigned at any time
Maintain high performance standards and have attention for detail
Maintain a high level of productivity
Reliable
Arrive on time and ready to work
Complete projects in a timely manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Required: At least 4 years on the job of metal fabrication/machine building experience
Preferred: At least 6 years on the job of metal fabrication/machine building experience
