Trailer Mechanic Duties/Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
Perform annual/systematic 90‑day inspections on equipment as required.
Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
Identify parts and supplies as needed.
Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards, including proper handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
Use welding equipment.
Trailer Mechanic Required Skills/Abilities
Able to learn and demonstrate vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Able to learn and demonstrate tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma, completion of a G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school (preferred but not required).
Experience diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers.
Dynamic, ambitious and engaged team player.
Ability to work 2nd shift, hours 2:00 pm–10:30 pm.
