Key Responsibilities
Fabricate Sheet Metal Components:
Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using shears, brakes, rollers, and forming equipment.
Read and Interpret Drawings:
Accurately produce components based on blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
Operate Machinery:
Safely use CNC and manual equipment, including punch presses, lasers, and welding machines.
Welding and Joining:
Perform MIG, TIG, stick welding, and mechanical fastening of sheet metal components.
Precision Measurement:
Use calipers, tape measures, and micrometers to ensure tolerances and specifications.
Assemble Products:
Align and join parts into final assemblies or sub-assemblies per plans.
Conduct Quality Checks:
Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy, fit, finish, and overall quality.
Maintain Tools & Machines:
Clean, repair, and maintain fabrication equipment to ensure safe operation.
Material Selection:
Choose sheet metal type, thickness, and finish based on project needs.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other fabricators to improve efficiency.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all OSHA safety protocols and company guidelines; use PPE at all times.
Inventory Management:
Track material usage and report inventory needs.
Troubleshooting:
Resolve fabrication issues and recommend solutions for production improvements.
Documentation:
Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any deviations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of a vocational or apprenticeship program in sheet metal fabrication preferred
Requirements
1–5 years of sheet metal fabrication experience
Proficient with shears, brakes, welders, and forming tools
Strong ability to read blueprints and follow technical drawings
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and fabrication safety practices
Mechanically inclined and physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
