Metal Mechanic II Overview: The Metal Mechanic II will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Select appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength.

Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required dimensions.

Measure and cut according to field measures need.

Connect pieces or secure seams by riveting, rolling, or using steel screws.

Use appropriate machinery to complete assigned jobs.

Coordinate required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.

Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.

The ability to work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications:

High school education or equivalent.

Successful completion of an apprenticeship or a three-year, in-company training program required.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.

Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds frequently.

Must have the ability to lift your whole body weight while climbing.

Must be able to stand, bend, kneel often, and walk for long periods.

Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment.

This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards. Compliance with this requirement is a fundamental condition for employment.
