Position Title: Marine Electrician III

Location: Norfolk, VA

Job Overview Continental Tide is seeking skilled Marine Electricians III for our Fleet Services in Norfolk, VA. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repairs, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment.

Perform on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation.

Set up, check, and correct operational and experimental electrical machinery, circuitry, and equipment following engineering specifications.

Assemble multi-pin connectors and fiber optic connections.

Construct components, subunits, or simple models or adapt standard equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.

Diagnose problems and provide cost-effective repair recommendations.

Perform/measuring mechanical alignments and verify system operation.

Read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints.

Inspect and test electrical systems to locate and diagnose malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.

Extract and compile engineering data from field notes, manuals, and reports; process data and present findings.

Conduct tests or experiments, modify test setups as needed, and operate standard test equipment to record data.

Follow layouts and diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits.

Identify and communicate problem areas to shop superintendent.

Overhaul AC/DC systems, power generation, distribution, and related components.

Lay out, pull, and splice wires; install and hook up lighting fixtures; label circuits and troubleshoot.

Write simple purchase requisitions and instruct helpers or apprentices as needed.

Record motor/generator thrust, clearance, and alignment measures; identify required materials and substitutes.

Proactively problem-solve, write reports, and contribute improvement suggestions.

Perform additional duties to support production and project completion.

Requirements

Must be Copper Connector Certified and have fiber optic experience.

7+ years of practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems and equipment.

Possess NAVSEA Cableway and Connectorization Certifications.

Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, PLCs, fiber optics, and integrated network systems.

High school diploma, GED, or industrial school certificate.

Ability to read, interpret, and understand schematics and blueprints.

Repair and replace cables and connectors; install AC/DC generation and distribution components.

Must be familiar with NAVSEA standards and able to obtain SECRET clearance; DBIDS access may be required.

Must have basic hand tools and be able to communicate in English.

Pass audiogram, respirator fit test, and physical; travel up to 25% may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified in Multi-pin Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA).

CFOS certifications in fiber optics.

7+ years as a Marine Electrician with 3+ years of supervisory experience.

Experience with budgets and maintenance of electrical/electro-mechanical systems of maritime vessels.

Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and wire-way inspections.

Microsoft Office knowledge.

Physical and Travel Requirements

Exposure to open-air environments, noise, and varying temperatures.

Visiting ships and project sites both onshore and offshore; PPE required.

Must be able to lift 30 lbs or more; may work in confined spaces and at sea for extended periods.

May require travel up to 25% domestically or internationally.
