Job Summary UK HealthCare seeks registered respiratory therapists dedicated to wellness, safety, and patient‑centered care. The Respiratory Therapist Senior ensures competent care of patients through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, blood gas analysis, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and other duties related to assuring quality patient care. The ideal candidate will perform proper documentation of patient care activities and interventions, record therapy and results as required by hospital policy and regulatory agencies, and communicate with other healthcare teams to ensure quality care of patients.

Responsibilities

Manage airways, ventilators, blood gases, oxygen and aerosol therapy.

Document patient care activities, interventions, and therapy results.

Coordinate with nursing, medical staff and other healthcare teams.

Qualifications

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure through the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care and the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Associate or Bachelor degree in Respiratory Care or related field (education required).

No prior experience required; preferred patient‑care experience, strong computer skills, excellent communication skills.

Hospital experience preferred; pediatric respiratory experience preferred at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

Physical Requirements This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods; standing or walking with objects up to 10 pounds; lifting, pushing, pulling up to or over 50 pounds; intermittent standing/walking up to 25 pounds; repetitive motions such as typing; occasionally working at heights above four feet or in confined spaces; exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment or materials; exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood‑borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.

Shift Must work three 12.5‑hour shifts per week (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.); also required to work weekends and holidays.

Locations Positions available at:

Albert B. Chandler Hospital – 569‑bed teaching hospital with Level 1 trauma center.

Good Samaritan Hospital – 180‑bed community hospital offering ICU, progressive and acute levels of care.
