As a
Traveling
Sous Chef
at Belmont Village Senior Living, you will provide coverage to our Assisted Living communities in an assigned geographic area focusing on high quality food preparation, filling in for culinary staff vacations, leaves of absence, special events or vacancies. The

will serve as a member of the culinary team for the Belmont Village nearest their home when not traveling. The
Traveling Sous Chef
assists in training new kitchen employees and helps to maintain a high quality of food preparation and presentation using company recipes to ensure an excellent dining experience for residents and their guests. The ideal candidate is reliable, takes pride in their work, and demonstrates empathy. YOUR TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES ·
Travel to serve as replacement or adjunct Cook for communities in assigned area, supporting continued kitchen operations during times of staff vacancy or for special events; schedule of coverage to be determined by manager and Regional Director of Food Services ·
Supervises Kitchen and Dining Room staff in absence of Chef Manager ·
Supervises food production in the absence of Chef Manager or Sous Chef ·
Prepares food daily as outlined on the Food Production Worksheet from the Menu Cycle ·
Prepares meals and daily specials on designated days and shifts following recipes and production guidelines ·
Prepares meals and a-la-carte menu items ·
Shares best practices within the company ·
Maintains clean, orderly and safe Kitchen and Dining Room environment. ·
Ensures proper storage of kitchen equipment and handling of food to meet Health Department requirements as well as Belmont Village Standards of Cleanliness and Sanitation as described in the Policy and Procedure Manual ·
Ensures compliance with regulations ·
Monitors portion control to minimize waste ·
Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving with consistent use of plate garnishes ·
Follows all policies and procedures and regulatory requirements ·
Makes hospitality, customer service, and resident satisfaction your top priorities in every interaction MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Primary residence must be less than 40 miles from one of the following Belmont Village community locations: San Jose, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, San Ramon.
Ability to travel up to 75% of the time including extended overnight stays
Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a high volume restaurant setting with supervisory responsibilities
Proven success with advanced Culinary skills such as knife handling, food preparation and presentation
Ability to work assigned shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
Consistent and reliable attendance is essential for all Belmont Village employees to ensure the successful operation of the community
